About Us

Nestled in the heart of a town with rich roots, our building holds a unique past—the Library once served as a train depot, and in 1923 it began a new chapter as the public library for our community. Over the decades we’ve preserved that legacy of gathering and movement, transforming it into a place of connection, learning and renewal.

Our Town’s Heritage

The town of Zeigler, Illinois sits in Franklin County and was founded in the early 20th century around the coal-mining industry. Its layout is uniquely designed in the shape of a wagon wheel—a circular center from which streets radiate outward. In the midst of this circle lies our Library—a home base for information, gathering and inspiration.

Our Mission

At Zeigler Public Library our mission is to inspire learning, connection and community. We strive to be a welcoming space where everyone can explore, create and grow.
We offer more than books, we’re a hub for curiosity and collaboration. From our large community meeting room to smaller gathering spaces we provide flexible areas for events, programs and local groups. Our computer lab and free Wi-Fi ensure everyone in our community has access to the tools and information they need.

Whether you’re here to read, research, attend an event or simply connect with others, the Zeigler Public Library is your place to learn, gather and belong.
